FTP access to the hosting will be required. Here are some of the things we will look at and adjust where necessary.

Technical analysis

We will analyse your website’s technical architecture and code to make sure that is it is search engine friendly. In particular, we check that search engines are not blocked from viewing key information because of poor technical design.

Keywords

We will research keywords and phrases and identify those which are most likely to give you a top ranking.

SEO text edit

We will review the text on your home page and make sure that is fully optimized, using appropriate keywords and the correct density, h1 header tags (headings that search engines look for), bold emphasis and meaningful link anchors.

Meta tags

Meta tags are hidden tags embedded in your websites code (you can’t see them when you look at your website). They are used in the search engine algorithms to help decide on a website’s ranking. We will check for the presence of meta tags and add or re-write as appropriate. Meta tags are not as important as they used to be in deciding your website’s rank. However, they are often displayed as part of your listing on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs) and can therefore affect your website’s click through rate by visitors.

Title tags

These are also tags embedded in your websites code but are particularly important as they are often displayed as part of the search engines listing.  We will check for the presence of title tags and add or re-write as appropriate.

Incoming links

We review the number of incoming links to your website from authority websites as these are taken into consideration by the search engines.

Making sure that the most basic SEO principles are applied to your site is the first SEO step and if these principles are implemented where they have not previously been implemented, your ranking will improve. But if you are serious about reaching the top positions for certain keywords, you will need to employ a long term SEO strategy which involves working actively to keep your content fresh and at building incoming links. To help you, we provide a DIY SEO guide explaining various on-going actions that you can do to help improve your website’s ranking.
